Article content “Thank you so much,” she said to her warm reception. “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.” Article content The actress appeared alongside her co-stars, including Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris, during a reunion panel for the popular ’90s teen drama when she became emotional as she discussed her cancer diagnosis. “I have a fight for my life, that I deal with every day,” Doherty said during the conversation that was hosted by PEOPLE’s Senior Editor Breanne L. Heldman. “I think I am really great.” In June, Doherty revealed that her breast cancer had spread to her brain. The Charmed star shared the news with her Instagram followers as she tearfully posted a video of herself going through “the process of getting fitted for the mask which you wear during radiation to your brain.” Your noon-hour look at what’s happening in Toronto and beyond. On January 5th, my CT scan showed (the cancer metastasized) in my brain,” Doherty, 53, wrote on Instagram. “January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedar Sinai. But that fear … The turmoil … the timing of it all … This is what cancer can look like.” Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but she announced that she had gone into remission two years later. In 2020, the actress announced the cancer had returned and was stage 4. “I definitely have days where I say, ‘Why me?’ And then I go, ‘Well, why not me? Who else? Who else besides me deserves this?’ None of us do,” she said during a sitdown with Good Morning America. Advertisement 4 This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Article content During her appearance at 90s Con, Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh on 90210, also joked about her recent divorce. “My other profession is getting engaged, married and divorced, and I’m doing that very well,” said Doherty, who split earlier this year from her third husband, photographer Kurt Iswarienko after 11 years of marriage. But Doherty will continue to stay busy, telling fans that she plans to launch a podcast later this year. “It’s going to be called Let’s Be Clear, and it’s a live interactive memoir,” Doherty shared. “So you get to hear everything that I’ve refused to say before. I’m spilling the tea, but nicely!” Heldman told GMA the reaction to Doherty’s appearance was “outrageous.” “Both the actors and the fans got up and gave her this huge standing ovation,” Heldman said. “All the actors stood up; I stood up; the applause was loud. She got very emotional. She definitely was feeling the love and it meant so much to her. It was a really powerful moment.” mdaniell@postmedia.com X: @markhdaniell Shannen Doherty celebrates the end of chemotherapy with throwback video Shannen Doherty reveals cancer has spread to her brain: ‘My fear is obvious’ Article content Share this article in your social network Comments Postmedia is committed to maintaining a lively but civil forum for discussion and encourage all readers to share their views on our articles.
