Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal‘ released on Friday and it has created a huge stir on the internet. A huge section feels that if some people found Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s ‘Kabir Singh’ problematic, then ‘Animal’ is ten times more than that. However, people are blown by the film’s action and Ranbir Kapoor’s performance. Amidst all the controversies, different opinions pouring in, Shobhaa De has dropped a video outraging over ‘Animal’.
She shared a video and wrote, “This is NOT a film review. Just a citizen voicing outrage..@AnimalFilm @imvangasandeep.” In this video, she is saying, “As I said in a post earlier, I’m not going to watch ‘Animal’ and this is not to tell you not to watch it. It’s just that from the reviews I’ve read and from people who’ve watched it, it seems like something has gone horribly wrong, not just with the filmmakers but with us as a society. Because it had a smashing opening weekend. But it’s not about the numbers. What is the film saying? This kind of alpha-male behaviour is considered love. We have to make excuses for a hero who has daddy issues? Well that’s fine. But, gore and violence and offensive language?”
She further added, “And the hero who is being applauded is telling a woman to lick his shoes to prove her love and we think this is great cinema? Guys go watch it, I’m not stopping anyone. But if something is this awful, we should speak up. Because a film which is called ‘Animal’ and is for ‘Animals’ is already giving animals a bad name because animals don’t behave like that towards their home.”
As soon as Shobhaa dropped this video, she was trolled by some netizens. One user said, “Shobha, it’s just a work of fiction. If 3 hours of content changes ur character or has an effect on society, then we are already doomed. Bdw, never seen your criticism when a 50 year old romances with a 20 year old girl in a movie coz that’s been normalized in Bollywood Culture!”

Another person said, “People watch bollywood movies because they like the actor/actress/director and want to get 3 hours of entertainment. Values are different for everyone. If this movie has been approved by the censor board, they think it is watchable. And you don’t have the right to decide #Animal” A user also said, “Shobhaa Rehne De”.
Someone also wrote, “Aunty ji pls film ko film jaise hi dekho.:.gyaan mat do 🤣🤣🤣we don’t watch films for moral lessons or gyaan..” Meanwhile, many also came in support of Shobhaa and told her, ‘Well said.” Some also agreed to her and applauded her for speaking up.
