Simple Dot One electric scooter launched: Ola S1 rival delivers 151km on a charge at this price

Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer Simple Energy had recently introduced an affordable variant of its maiden electric scooter, the One. Christened as the ‘Dot One’ it was initially made available for the pre-booked customers of the One for an introductory price of Rs 1 lakh, ex-showroom.
Now, the EV maker has launched the e-scooter at a starting price of Rs 1.40 lakh, ex-showroom.For new customers, the bookings are slated to begin from January 27, 2024 for a nominal token amount of Rs 1,947. Furthermore, the company says that it will prioritize the bookings for existing customers who now want to switch from One to Dot One, albeit at a new price of Rs 1.40 lakh, ex-showroom, starting from January 1, 2024.
What has changed?
The Dot One retains the features and design of the One electric-scooter but gets only a fixed battery, distinct from the dual battery setup in the latter. Hence, the Dot One will deliver a range of 151 km on a single charge as opposed to One’s 212 km per charge. Otherwise, the scooter remains unchanged.

The Dot One, offered in a single variant, houses a 3.7 kWh battery with a certified range of 151 km, which the manufacturer claims is the longest in its category. It is equipped with an 8.5 kW electric motor generating 72 Nm of peak torque, propelling the scooter to 40 kmph in just 2.7 seconds.
Safety features include CBS with disc brakes, a 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument cluster with Android OS, turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and OTA updates. Available in four colors, the Dot One also offers LightX and BrazenX options as part of the introductory offer.
