Simple Energy’s affordable Dot One electric scooter launched at Rs 1 lakh: Gets 151 km range

As we had exclusively reported earlier, Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturer Simple Energy has launched an affordable version of its maiden electric scooter, the One. Christened as the ‘Dot One,’ this EV has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 1 lakh, ex-showroom. Deliveries will commence in Bangalore, followed by a phased rollout in other cities.
However, the prices will only be applicable to existing customers who had pre-booked the One.The company will be offering the customers an option to switch and purchase the newly-launched affordable model. On the other hand, new customers will only discover the price in January 2024.

While the Dot One is based on the same One platform and remains unchanged in terms of features and design, it does get mechanical tweaks such as a fixed battery as opposed to the dual battery setup available with the latter.

The Dot One will be offered in a single variant and houses a 3.7 kWh battery pack that comes with a certified range of 151 km, which the company says is the longest in its category. Propelling this scooter forward will be a 8.5 kW electric motor rated to belt out 72 Nm of peak torque. Other features include 12-inch wheels on both ends wrapped in tubeless tyres. This EV achieves 40 kmph from a standstill in just 2.7 seconds.
Safety features include CBS with disc brakes, along with an expansive 35-litre under-seat storage. The scooter is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument cluster, running Android OS with turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, battery and range infographics, call alerts and OTA updates.
The scooter is available in four colours, namely, Namma Red, Brazen Black, Grace White, and Azure Blue. However, the company is also offering the LightX and BrazenX colour options as part of the introductory offer.
