On opening day of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour concert film, Swifties are hotly debating whether they should sing, stand and dance or sit in their seats during the theater experience.
Swift announced late Wednesday that the film would be released a day early on Thursday. “Due to unprecedented demand we’re opening up early access showings of The Eras Tour Concert Film on THURSDAY in America and Canada!!,” she wrote on Instagram.
The debate has raged in Reddit forums whether fans should carry on like they would at a concert, which some called “completely inappropriate,” to those who plan to cheer in front of the movie screen.
After all, when the concert film was first announced, Swift did say “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”
The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far and I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆 Starting Oct 13th you’ll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! AMC with reported presales that have already exceeded $100 million for its theaters — a record for the company — has issued a few guidelines for the film. “We encourage those attending to share friendship bracelets, dance and sing along, enjoy our exclusive merchandise, and much more for the concert film of the Era,” it wrote on its site.
The company also had a few other tips:
• Masks (except for standard face masks used explicitly for health and safety reasons) are not permitted.
• We encourage dancing and singing throughout this concert film event, but please do not dance on our seats or block other guests from viewing, safely walking or exiting the auditorium.
• Feel free to take selfies and group photos, but you may not record the concert film on our big screen.
They emphasize “please be respectful of other guests enjoying the concert film or other movies at AMC.”
There is sure to be some wiggle room in most theaters during the 2 hour and 48 minute film, and a worker at the AMC Mercado 20 in Santa Clara confirmed they would allow all the activities spelled out by the company.
