Sonam Kapoor is often in the spotlight not just for her acting and fashion sense but also for her candid and sometimes controversial remarks about other actors. On Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee with Karan, Sonam has spoken openly about her opinions on the fashion choices and acting abilities of her peers, which has sparked debates and sometimes backlash.
However, it seems Sonam has now achieved a deeper self-awareness and has acknowledged her past shortcomings. “I always thought I was non-judgmental, but then I realised that I was like, the most judgy human being on this planet. The amount of sh*t I’ve gotten away with saying when I was younger, can you imagine if I did this now in the social media era? I would be cancelled and crucified,” she admitted during a recent interview with Dirty Magazine.
On Koffee With Karan season 3, both Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, who had previously been romantically linked to Ranbir Kapoor, took several jabs at the actor. When Sonam was asked to rate Ranbir as a boyfriend, she remarked that while she values him as a friend, she was uncertain about his qualities as a partner.

Soon after, Rishi Kapoor sharply criticized Deepika and Sonam for their comments, suggesting they should concentrate on their own careers instead. “It just shows their class. I would like to tell them to stop giggling all the time and instead grow up and behave maturely. They are there on the show because they are their fathers daughters and not because of their work! I would advise them to stop talking about their colleagues and run them down,” the late veteran actor commented in an interview at the time.

Four years after tying the knot, Sonam and her husband Anand Ahuja welcomed a baby boy, Vayu, in 2022. The actress was last seen in the 2023 crime thriller Blind. Her most recent film with a theatrical release was the sports romantic drama The Zoya Factor (2019).
