The Dolby Atmos 9.1.6 Audio Lab has been set up at the Stellantis software centre in Bengaluru, which specialises in the advancement of software and technological innovations. This is the country’s first Dolby Atmos-qualified sound lab and focuses on audio references, production and quality assurance. The audio lab will also internalise the automotive acoustic R&D and will define the audio strategy for all of Stellantis-owned auto brands.
Industry-firsts in the Bengaluru Audio Lab:
1. The Lab has exceptional levels of control over reverberation time (RT), achieving an impressive 0.5 seconds in low frequencies and maintaining a linear 0.2 seconds from mid to high frequencies.
2. The Lab aligns seamlessly with stringent IEC and Dolby acoustical standards, earning a 100% score in several criteria, complemented by a less than 20NC Noise Criteria value.

3. It sets new standards in air and structure-borne insulation, achieving an outstanding Sound Transmission Class (STC) score of 68.
The room’s acoustics are designed using advanced computational simulation modelling, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Boundary Element Method (BEM), and Raytracing. These methods enabled an accelerated 53-day project turnaround and the optimal use of materials resulting in a cutting-edge space that exemplifies precision and innovation in audio and acoustics.
What does it mean for you?
The establishment of the new Audio Lab will eventually lead to a better audio experience inside Jeep and Citroen vehicles that are currently being sold in the domestic market. From the affordable C3 compact SUV to the Grand Cherokee luxury SUV, we can expect an updated and better-tuned audio experience that will be developed at the software centre in Bengaluru.
