FASTag Blacklisted! Here’s How to Activate It Via BHIM App, Google Pay; Check Step-By-Step Guide
New Delhi: FASTag became mandatory for all four-wheelers (private and commercial vehicles) in India from February 15, 2021. It is a tag that attaches to your car’s windshield and enables electronic toll payment at toll plazas on highways. By using RFID technology, the toll payment is made from a digital wallet connected to the tag, eliminating the need for cash payments and reducing queues at toll plazas. However, if your FASTag has low balance or you have committed traffic violations, it may get blacklisted, and you won’t be able to make automatic payments at toll booths.
To check if your FASTag is blacklisted, you can visit the official FASTag portal. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Go to the website https://www.npci.org.in/.
2. Click on the “What we do” drop-down menu.
3. Hover/click on the “NETC Fastag” option.
4. Click on “Check Your NETC FASTag Status”.
5. Enter your vehicle registration number or FASTag ID, fill in the captcha code, and click on the “Check Status” button.
6. The page will display the tag’s status and indicate whether it is active/inactive or blocked.
There can be various reasons for a FASTag getting blacklisted, including being on the radar of law enforcement agencies due to rule violations or insufficient balance in the account. If your FASTag has been blacklisted for reasons other than insufficient balance, you should contact your FASTag issuer to resolve the issue. You can recharge your FASTag wallet online or do it at a toll plaza or bank branch.
