On Monday night, an 11-year-old boy was strangled to death by his stepmother in a village in Palamu district, Jharkhand. The incident occurred in Manhun village in the Chatarpur police station area. The police discovered the child’s body on Tuesday morning and subsequently arrested the woman, who is now being questioned. The woman, who had married the boy’s father around 10 years ago, allegedly assaulted him with an iron rod during an argument before strangling him. The boy’s father’s first wife had died from a snake bite. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are conducting further investigations. In a separate incident, a Class 1 girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person in the hostel of a boarding school in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh. The police have formed a team to investigate the case and have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The child’s medical examination has been conducted, and efforts are being made to identify the perpetrator.
