Sunday morning shooting in North Oakland injures two

A shooting in North Oakland early Sunday morning injured two people and left one man in critical condition.

The shooting occurred at 12:02 a.m. near the intersection of 63rd and Baker streets.

A group of people were standing outside in that area when someone began shooting at them, police said. A 33-year- old man who lived in the neighborhood was hit, along with an 18-year-old woman.

The woman was hit twice and the man once, both in the torso, according to police. It’s unclear where the shots came from or if the two individuals knew each other. No one else was wounded in the shooting.

Both people were transported to a nearby hospital. The man was in critical condition and the woman in stable condition.

There is currently no known motive and no suspects. Police have set an award of up to $10,000 for information about the shooting, and are asking anyone with knowledge of the event to call 510-238-3426 or Crime stoppers at 510-777-8572.
