When Sunny was asked where would he be today if his father Dharmendra was not an actor, he told Aaj Tak that he would probably be working where his father would be working.
He agreed that since his father is a huge star, he got the platform and opportunity of becoming an actor.
He then tried to explain that one has to understand that in a family, the child follows and imitates what his father does. “The hate and nepotism is being spread by those people who are frustrated. What’s wrong if a father wants to do something for his son or daughter? If not his family, then who is the father working for?” he asked.
Sunny further said that the success eventually will depend on the individual person. He added that his father is a huge icon and he has also made his own identity in the showbiz. Though he is not like his dad, they are very similar.
“My father could not get into me to make me an actor. I cannot get into my sons to make them an actor. Of course there were difficulties, but I never thought of them as difficulties,” he added.
Sunny’s son Karan Deol, who recently tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Disha Acharya, made his Bollywood debut with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas in 2019. His second son Rajveer Deol will now make his Bollywood debut with his upcoming film Dono, which is directed by Sooraj Barjatya’s son Avinash. The film also marks the debut of Poonam Dhillon’s daughter Paloma.
From the Deol family, Hema Malini is also a huge star in the industry. Sunny Deol’s brother Bobby Deol and their cousin Abhay Deol have also been working in the film industry for decades now. Dharmendra and Hema’s daughter Esha Deol is also an actress.
