Stream the world’s best reality, entertainment and true crime shows for free on 7Bravo on 7plus >> There to give the beloved studio a proper goodbye was Sunrise’s weather presenter Sam Mac, who recruited sports host Mark Beretta to help him farewell their neighbours in proper fashion. Standing outside in Martin Place, Sam called for “Beretts to come outside”. “I’ve got a bit of a plan. Obviously we’ve got to say goodbye to our neighbours and for many, many years our neighbours have been EzyMart— I feel like we’ve bonded with staff, they’ve hooked us up with all our supplies, all our lollies, over the years,” Sam said. “I think the right thing to do is to go in there and say thank you.” Mark Beretta meets Sam Mac on the street. As they walked to the store, Beretts revealed he often buys lollies there when he needs a pick-me-up and he “knows” the staff. “We’re going to make their day, this is going to be like, ‘This is Your Life’,” Sam jested. “It is emotional to say goodbye to those people you’ve spent all those times with,” Sam added, as Beretts agreed. As they arrived at the door, Sam called them “family” before walking in and shared he was “feeling a bit emotional”. Walking up to the staff member behind the checkout, Sam announced: “Look who it is, Mark Beretta in the flesh!” “Morning,” the woman uttered as Sam passed her the microphone. Sam then told her: “I know you’re probably a little bit overwhelmed but we just want to say thank you for being our neighbour over many, many years,” adding that they have provided “so many great treats and so many great moments”. Asked if she had a “favourite moment” with the Sunrise crew, the woman was lost for words — leading the pair to jokingly assume there were just too many memories for her to choose. What a treat and tell us, tell us a bit about her Beretts?” Sam challenged. “We had a great time together over the years, I mean we’re always in here,” Beretts said. “What a family event, this is absolutely beautiful!” Sam said. “I’m getting emotional already,” Beretts said as he gave Sam a hug in the store.
