Sunrise’s co-hosts Matt Shirvington and Natalie Barr are stepping up to the challenge, with the storyline revolving around a special Sunrise live cross.
The highly anticipated crossover comes with the visit of headstrong Hollywood actor Stevie Marlow (Catherine Van-Davies) to Summer Bay.
Since her arrival in town, the A-lister has made waves in the Bay, bringing with her a troupe of loyal fans and unprecedented media interest in the seaside community.
After hiring ex-cop Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) as her personal bodyguard, Stevie selects Summer Bay as the perfect backdrop for her new romcom film.
Before long, the Bay is abuzz with the excitement of movie magic and the media circus that comes with it.
On the first day of production, the PR machine is in full swing as Stevie gears up for a “live” Sunrise cross from the set.
But when John Palmer (Shane Withington) gets a case of stage fright before his big morning TV debut, it’s up to none other than Summer Bay icon, Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher), to step up and escort Stevie to the interview.
The fun scene sees Shirvo interviewing the famous starlet, and crossing back to Nat who is “live” from Sunrise’s studio in Sydney.
While shooting the scenes late last year, Shirvo was able to spend time with Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart).
“As a kid who grew up watching Home and Away, it was all a bit surreal to be in Summer Bay with Alf Stewart!” he told 7NEWS.com.au after shooting the scenes.
“What a fun experience. The entire cast and crew were so welcoming and generous with acting tips and advice for this novice.
“I think this will be one of those things my kids are never going to let me live down!”
Nat and Shirvo are not the first Sunrise stars to appear on the beloved soap.
In October 2021, weather presenter Sam Mac made his acting debut on the show, playing himself as a VIP guest at a Summer Bay soiree.
At the time he shared a photo of him alongside actor Ray Meagher, holding a shirt and hat with the slogan, “Sam Mac is… Summer Bae”.
“My @homeandaway episode is on TONIGHT 🏖 I’m not sure Alf is on board with my line of commemorative “Sam Mac-chandise” 🤷🏽♂️ He threatened legal action 😬,” he captioned the post at the time.
Former Sunrise co-host David Koch also made a cameo in a 2007 blink-and-you-miss-it moment.
Seen mingling by the bar at the Summer Bay surf club, he held a stubby and delivered the line, “Yeah sure”.
