Suspect arrested on suspicion of murder after woman pushed into BART train in San Francisco suffers fatal head injury

SAN FRANCISCO — A man was arrested on suspicion of murder Monday night after he allegedly pushed a 74-year-old woman into a train at the Powell Street BART station, causing her a fatal head injury, BART police said Tuesday.

The name of the woman who died was not immediately released.

The suspect, Trevor Belmont, 49, who authorities said was a transient, was also arrested on suspicion of inflicting injury on an elder adult likely to cause great bodily injury.

Belmont, who police said is also known as Hoak Taing, was being held without bail at the San Francisco County Jail.
