A NSW motorist has shared their bemusement at a “no parking” sign with a confusing caveat.
The driver posted the clip to TikTok under the handle @marcmclachlan1 last week.

Stopping near a park, he zooms in on the sign before pausing to emphasise his confusion.
The no parking sign reads: “Motor vehicles excepted.”
Those commenting on the clip were also confused.
“No parking, but yes parking?” one person asked.
“No parking your horses there obviously,” another said.
The purpose behind the signs, however, is to prevent people from parking motorhomes or trailers in the spot.
According to the North Sydney Council, Roads and Maritime Services rolled out the signs after trialling them in 2019.
“The RMS introduced a new parking sign ‘No Parking – Motor Vehicles Excepted’ that councils may use which is intended to allow parking of motor vehicles, and restrict the parking of all types of trailers and caravans,” the council said.
“Council successfully trialled the restrictions in three streets in 2019 and subsequently resolved to develop a policy to ensure a consistent approach to expanding the restrictions in other high demand areas, including appropriate community engagement.”
