Mumbai, July 16: The ICC has announced the group for the T20 World Cup starting October 17. There are two groups in the Super-12, the second group includes India-Pakistan, New Zealand and Afghanistan. The top team of Group-A who qualifies from Round-1 and the second team from Group B will be in this group. But Group-1 in the Super-12 is called the Group of Death, because there are 4 teams in this group that can make a big difference if it’s your day. Group 1 includes Australia, South Africa, England and the West Indies.
Australia and South Africa could face more difficulties in the Super-12 round, as two-time champions West Indies and England, the most aggressive team in T20 cricket, are in the group. Australia’s current T20 squad is weak. In the recent series against the West Indies, Australia also lost the series by 3 T20 matches.
Australia’s veteran T20 players Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoyanis were rested for the series, but Australia’s bowling has weakened, with the West Indies and England taking advantage. Australia have lost 10 of 15 T20I matches in the past one year, winning just five.
The situation is the same for the South African team. The African team is also in danger of being knocked out of the group stage due to poor batting. South Africa’s performance has been similar to Australia’s. They also lost 10 of 15 matches in a year and won 5 matches.
The record of the West Indies in the last one year has not been very special. The West Indies have lost seven of their 15 T20 matches, winning seven and drawing one. England’s performance in T20 cricket has been excellent in the last few days. In one year, England won 11 of 17 T20s, losing 5 of them.
