Tata Motors confirms launch timeline for Harrier EV: What to expect from Tata’s largest electric car yet

Tata Motors, one of the leaders in the evolving electric passenger vehicle market in India, has confirmed the launch window for its much anticipated flagship electric car, the Harrier EV. The carmaker will be launching the model in FY 2025, which means it will debut after the Curvv EV, which is slated to hit the streets in the festive season later this year. Here, let’s take a quick look at what to expect from Tata’s biggest EV yet.
Tata Harrier EV: What to expect
First unveiled as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, the Harrier EV will utilize Tata’s acti.ev architecture. In terms of design, the close-to-production model showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and Bharat Mobility Show 2024 earlier this year, looks more or less similar to its ICE counterpart. However, it does have some changes that differentiates it from its sibling: a refreshed grille, and a redesigned bumper among other EV-specific tweaks.

Although it shares the Land Rover-derived Omega platform with the ICE Harrier, it has been extensively re-engineered for an electric powertrain. The Harrier EV is expected to support vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging.
What is even more exciting is that we can expect Tata Motors to mount electric motors on each axle, thereby giving it AWD capabilities. The manufacturer has so far kept the battery and range details under the carpet but it is possible that it might get a large 60 kWh battery pack, capable of returning a range of more than 500 km on a single charge.
