Of particular interest is the surge in sales of electric vehicles both domestically and in export markets, with January witnessing 6,979 units sold. This represents a remarkable 69 percent increase from the previous month’s figure of 4,133 units.
SUVs lead the charge
It is interesting to note that as per Tata Motors, SUV sales exceeded 40,000 units, highlighting the continued popularity of this vehicle segment in India. Notably, the Nexon and Punch models emerged as standout performers, being the only two SUVs in the industry to surpass the 17,000 unit mark in sales for the month.
Tata Motors has been aggressively expanding its lineup and has already launched the electrified Punch in January, which is expected to be followed by the likes of all-new Curvv, and the CNG iteration of the Nexon SUV, both of which were also showcased at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Besides that, the company will also launch the much-anticipated Harrier EV sometime later this year, thus bringing the 4WD back in its lineup, albeit in an electric avatar.
