Tata Nexon, Tata Punch: Why are these models so popular
First and foremost, safety. In a market where consumer mindset is shifting and now they are prioritizing safety over budget or mileage, both the Nexon and Punch SUVs come with 5-star ratings from GNCAP. Notably, their electric variants, the Nexon EV and Punch EV, recently received 5-star ratings from Bharat NCAP, making them the safest electric SUVs in India. The Punch EV even outperformed slightly in terms of points scored.
On the other hand, Tata Motors provides a range of engine and transmission options for the Nexon and Punch. The Nexon is available with petrol and diesel engines and offers four transmission choices: 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
The Punch comes with a single petrol engine option, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. It also offers CNG variants. Both models are also available in fully electric versions. Besides that, the company is gearing up to launch the CNG iteration of the Nexon soon.
