Tata Safari, Harrier secure Bharat NCAP’s first five-star crash test rating!

The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) was launched by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways earlier this year in a bid to promote safer cars in the country and help buyers make an informed decision while purchasing a new car. BNCAP has now announced that the Tata Harrier and Safari are the first cars in India to be crash tested by them!
The Tata Safariand Harrier have secured a perfect five-star safety rating for both adult occupant protection as well as child occupant protection in Bharat NCAP’s crash test.Announcing the feat on its social media handles, BNCAP said that the two SUVs were tested for frontal impact, side impact as well as pole side impact. The Safari and Harrier had also previously received a perfect five-starcrash test rating by Global NCAP under its ‘Safer Cars for India’ program.

The Harrier & Safari secured 30.08 points out of the maximum 32 for adult occupant protection, and 44.54 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. The score applies to all variants of the new Tata Harrier & Tata Safari facelifts that were launched in the country a few months back. Do note that the Bharat NCAP crash test is voluntary for now.
The safety features on offer with the Tata Motors SUVs include up to seven airbags, electronic stability control, hill assist, a 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchorages in the second row, as well as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control, front collision warning and avoidance, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and so on.
