Tarun Tahiliani has collaborated with Team India’s Paris Olympics Team 2024 to design their ceremonial attire. His collection showcases elegant sarees and kurtas inspired by the Indian culture.
Renowned designer Tarun Tahiliani teams up his ready-to-wear menswear label, Tasva, with the Indian Olympics Association (IOA) to design the official ceremonial dress of Team India at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 2024 Paris Olympics are scheduled from July 26 to August 11, featuring 100 athletes across the world. Comprising ethnic wear with modern comfort, here’s what is new and different about this year’s ceremonial attire.
The official statement by the Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya was shared on June 30, 2024. He unveiled the details about the official ceremonial dress of Team India in the presence of Indian Olympics Association President, Dr PT Usha. Tahiliani embraced India’s tricolour, incorporating fabrics like Banarsai silk and brocade. While creating a ceremonial dress, he tried to blend traditional aesthetics with modern comfort.
At the time, of the opening ceremony, Team India’s male athletes will wear a kurta bundi set, while the female athletes donned an elegant saree with digitally printed panels in saffron and green. The saree will also be representing the Ashoka Chakra for peace and unity.

Taking way back, in 2016, at the Rio Olympics, the female athletes sported ombre yellow-to-blue sarees with a blazer combo, while at the 2008 games in Beijing, men adorned creamy white sherwani suits. This time Tahiliani has a strategic approach and prioritised outfits that empower athletes to represent India with pride and confidence.
He revealed that “The spirit of the project is about unity and national pride, different from the individualised world of Bollywood fashion.”
