Koy Kicks Off the Ceremony with a Fun Monologue

“I”m taking this all in,” Koy told the gathered celebrities at the start of the show, before looking around at the stars and declaring his hosting spot as the “best seat in the house.”

The comedian joked in his monologue that he hadn’t actually viewed much of the nominated work except for Netflix series Beef (“I’m Asian!” he explained).

But his 2024 New Year’s resolution is to finish Oppenheimer — in 2025.

After a few groans following joke about Robert De Niro’s recent baby joy at age 80, Koy teased, “I got the gig 10 days ago, you want a perfect monologue?”

In fact, Koy continually reminded the audience when jokes landed flat that he “didn’t write” all of the bits.
