Actress Dafne Keen is all grown up now, and will soon be seen trading in her adamantium claws for a Lightsaber in the highly anticipated series ‘The Acolyte‘. The actress, who shot to fame for her role as X-23 alongside Hugh Jackman in the 2017 blockbuster film ‘Logan‘, will now be seen in a leading role as Jecki Lon a Padawan apprentice to Korean superstar Lee Jung-Jae‘s Master Sol in the upcoming instalment in the ‘Star Wars‘ franchise.
As the new series gears up for its premiere, ETimes, in an interview with Dafne, asked the young actress to share her insights and experiences working with some of the biggest names and the unique opportunities to collaborate with industry legends.
“First of all, I feel fortunate to have worked with such wonderful people because there are some horrible people out there,” Keen replied.
She elaborated, “I have been very lucky that the adult figures I got to work with have been so incredible. Hugh (Jackman) was such a gentle scene partner. He was truly like a fake dad when we were filming Logan, which was really, really lovely. And JJ (Lee Jung-Jae) was sort of like a master. I truly felt like we had that relationship on set where he was someone who I really respected and looked up to.”
Reflecting on the profound impact these veteran actors have had on her career, she said, “It’s really such an honour as a young person to get to be around such talented veterans from the industry that I love so much and that hopefully someday I get to be in the position that they’re in.” She continued, “It was just really enjoyable to just kind of be a sponge and soak all of their knowledge in. I think that they’re both very different in a way, and I learned a lot from both of them.”
Keen also expressed her gratitude for the entire creative team of The Acolyte, praising their guidance and support. “I just feel like the more senior team that worked creatively on this production was so wonderful. And director Leslye (Headland) was such an amazing guide for us through it all. I feel really, really fortunate to have worked with people I worked with.”
‘The Acolyte’, the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, is set during the High Republic era, a period only previously explored in books and comics. Taking place around 100 years before ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’, the series also features notable actors such as Charlie Barnett, Rebecca Henderson, and Carrie-Anne Moss, known for her role in ‘The Matrix’, who stars as Indara, a powerful Jedi.
The first two episodes of the eight-part series will air on June 4, followed by weekly releases, with the season finale set for June 16. As the series prepares to captivate audiences, Keen’s reflections provide a heartfelt glimpse into the enriching experiences that have shaped her promising career.
