Is there a bigger flex on an Awards season red carpet than wearing a look straight off the runway? Greta Lee and Andrea Riseborough surely would know—they were both in Loewe dresses that walked Jonathan Anderson’s show in Paris just over a week ago; ditto Margot Robbie in Versace and Riz Ahmed in Marni.
While last night’s Academy Awards were a big night for custom looks—both Emma Stone and Da’vine Joy Randolph, who won for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, wore looks by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton—the runway collections held their own. Emily Blunt wore a Schiaparelli couture number first seen in January, while her Oppenheimer costar, Florence Pugh, donned a Del Core frock. Both looks, interestingly enough, featured a similar off-the-body shoulder strapping detail.
It was the Vanity Fair After Party where the Fresh-Off-the-Runway Olympics really got going. Pugh pulled a Jean Paul Gaultier by Simone Rocha, while Kendall and Kylie Jenner opted for Margiela Artisanal and Ludovic de Saint Sernin, respectively. Joey King wore a Balenciaga frock seen on the runway last week, and Stone changed into one of Ghesquière’s sheer Vuitton looks from his 10th year anniversary show. Colman Domingo wore a custom Vuitton suit to the Oscars, but switched into a Balmain by Olivier Rousteing coat for the after party.
