The iPhone always ranks high among the list of bestselling smartphones in the world. So it wasn’t a surprise to see the iPhone 14 Pro being the top-selling smartphone during China’s ‘biggest’ online sale. However, what did come as a surprise was a foldable phone almost matching iPhone 14 Pro in terms of popularity.
According to a report by CNBC, Honor Magic V2 foldable phone was the second most popular phone as per JD.com‘s “hot sales” phone rankings this week.
The foldable phone from Honor is about 2,000 yuan more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro and was the second most popular phone. The third spot was taken by the iPhone 13.
Honor used to be a sub-brand of Huawei. However, it branched out on its own soon after US imposed some really heavy sanctions on its former parent company. Huawei, for the last couple of years, has seen troubled times outside of China as the US ban hit the company hard.
However, Honor became an independent brand and has launched quite a few phones. The Magic V2 is a foldable book-style design and competes with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. The Honor V2 is currently available only in China but is expected to launch in the European market later this year.
