From Labourer to a Successful Food Entrepreneur: Inspiring Story of an Assam Man
Success Story:
In recent years, Diganta Das has taken on various roles to support his family, including working as a daily-wage labourer, cook, security guard, and coal mine worker. However, his journey has led him to become a successful food entrepreneur in Assam. Diganta, hailing from Biswanath district’s Gohpur town, now runs DFF (Daily Fresh Food), a venture that offers delicious ready-to-eat parathas for people on the move. Despite facing numerous challenges, Diganta’s determination and resilience have led him to achieve remarkable success.
The Concept:
DFF’s parathas are based on Kerala’s famous Malabar parotta, known for its distinct taste. Made from refined wheat flour, these parathas are a flavorful and convenient option for people looking for a quick and satisfying meal.
The Journey So Far:
Diganta started his career as a daily wage labourer in Arunachal Pradesh after completing high school in 2001. He later worked in coal mines in Meghalaya and joined a construction company as a storekeeper in Assam’s Udalguri district. Over the years, he took on various jobs, including working as a cook and private security guard in Bengaluru. Diganta’s skills and experiences eventually led him to work in the food manufacturing industry in Mangalore. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, he had to return to Assam.
The Struggle and Turning Point:
In 2017, Diganta faced a life-altering incident when he was half paralyzed by a high-voltage electric cable. It took him four years to recover fully, and during this time, he worked as a paratha maker in Bengaluru. However, after being offered a marketing opportunity by a friend, he relocated to Andhra Pradesh and successfully built a customer base for his friend’s parathas. This success inspired Diganta to start his own paratha business in his hometown.
The Idea of Starting DFF:
With the experience gained from working in different states and the success he achieved in Andhra Pradesh, Diganta decided to start his own paratha brand, ‘Daily Fresh Food,’ in Gohpur, Assam. He aims to tap into the local market and provide job opportunities for the youth in the Northeast region. Diganta’s story is a true inspiration for those who face challenges but refuse to give up, and he encourages others to take a leap of faith and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
