“It’s a beautiful thing to be seen,” offered an emotional Luca Magliano earlier this year when he, together with Bettter’s Julie Pelipas, won the Karl Lagerfeld Prize at the 2023 LVMH Prize ceremony. Satoshi Kuwata’s Setchu took the Grand Prize and the €400,000 endowment, which was increased last year from €300,000. With past winners including Jacquemus, Nensi Dojaka, Thebe Magugu, and Grace Wales Bonner, it’s safe to say that the LVMH Prize is helping nurture and support the generation that is shaping a new industry today.
Today, LVMH is announcing that it has created a new Prize under the LVMH Prize umbrella. Christened the Savoir-Faire Prize, the new award will reward excellence in craftsmanship, technical innovation, and sustainability. As technology becomes further embedded in fashion’s processes, the industry is working to promote the preservation of craft. “The Prize is launching its 11th edition and this year I am delighted to honor our attachment to a core value of creation, savoir-faire,” said Delphine Arnault, CEO of Christian Dior, via a press release. The winner of the Savoir-Faire Prize will receive a 200,000-euro endowment and enjoy a one-year mentorship by LVMH teams.
Submissions for the 11th edition of the LVMH Prize are now open on lvmhprize.com. Designers anywhere aged between 18 and 40 who have created at least two collections are welcome to apply. The semi-final of the LVMH Prize will take place next year on Thursday, February 29, and Friday, March 1. Submissions close on January 7.
