MIOPS, maker of various photography accessories like the MIOPS Spark camera grip for iPhone and the Capsule Pro modular pan-tilt motion control system, has a camera app that promises pro-level photography features for mobile shooters.
The MIOPS Snap Pro Camera app has just been updated with a new timelapse function that allows iPhone users to condense hours or days of image capture into seconds.
The new timelapse feature, which is how PetaPixel first learned of this app, joins a suite of powerful mobile photography features, including RAW image capture, a motion blur tool, light trail mode, tilt-shift shooting, and crowd and object removal tools.
At its core, Snap Pro Camera is an iPhone camera app, like Halide Mark II, FiLMiC Firstlight, ProCamera+, and more. MIOPS, no stranger to photography with dedicated interchangeable lens cameras, has built Snap Pro Camera with ultimate control in mind. Users can adjust ISO, white balance, focus, and exposure compensation within the standard camera interface to dial in the perfect settings for the situation and look they desire.
The app also enables slow shutter speeds, so provided the user has access to a tripod or other stabilizer, they can capture long exposure photos for up to 30 seconds. This means iPhone shooters can capture light trails and even night sky photos without using a super high ISO.
For those without much experience using manual shutter speeds, the Motion Blur mode helps budding photographers capture long-exposure photos with a few simple taps.
The new timelapse mode follows this same idea of providing creative control in an accessible, user-friendly way. Users can adjust shooting duration and frequency and compile a timelapse video directly inside the app.
Additional features include real-time live filters, a tilt detection function, a customizable grid, a histogram, focus peaking, zebra stripes to show overexposed areas, preset saving, and photo sharing. The app also works alongside an Apple Watch app to enable users to remotely control the Snap Pro Camera app on their wrist.
The MIOPS Snap Pro Camera app is free to download, but unsurprisingly, it includes in-app purchases. To have full access, users can pay $2.49 per month, $11.99 a year, or a one-time fee of $49.99 to have perpetual access. The complete details are available on MIOPS’ website.
