The country’s medicine regulation body has issued a safety alert after a paracetamol product, meant for pharmacist use only, was sold to consumers without child-resistant packaging.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued an alert for APOHEALTH Paracetamol Pain Relief paracetamol 500mg film-coated tablets sold in bottles.
It became aware that the bottles, meant for dispensing only, may have been supplied directly to consumers, in store and online.

“As these packs were not intended for direct supply, they do not have child-resistant packaging,” the TGA said.
“There is a potential risk for an accidental overdose should a child be able to access the medicine in the original container.”
Consumers who have purchased the product have been urged by the TGA to keep it out of reach of children.
The APOHEALTH Paracetamol Pain Relief paracetamol 500mg film coated tablets in blister packaging is not affected and is meant to be sold to customers.
