Thief breaks RE Classic 350’s lock, crack-enables ignition with bite in just 18 seconds as cops watch demo

Vehicle thefts, both in India and abroad, have been a significant concern, with motorcycles being particularly vulnerable compared to cars. A recent report said that motorcycles are stolen more than nine times as often as cars, with the popular and widely available Royal Enfield Classic 350 being a frequent target. In contrast, a viral video on social media shows a captured thief demonstrating to the police how motorcycles are stolen, essentially recreating the theft process.
As seen in the video, the thief sits on the bike’s seat and effortlessly breaks the lock by placing his foot on the handlebar and giving it a strong jerk. After this, he quickly gets off and cracks open the ignition wiring using his teeth. Next, he does the hotwiring and bypasses the standard ignition system to start the motorcycle without a key. And that’s that! He then starts the motorcycle without using the key, completing the entire theft operation in just 18 seconds.

While it remains unclear whether the demo was performed on an already stolen bike or an undamaged vehicle, it serves as a stark reminder of how easily thieves can steal your beloved rides. It is advised to park your motorcycles in safe, dedicated parking areas. Additionally, investing in a bike front wheel lock or a cable lock can help keep your motorcycle secure and reduce the risk of theft as it is relatively difficult to break multiple locks, especially the wheel locks.

Although some modern two-wheelers are equipped with advanced anti-theft technologies similar to those in cars, most motorcycles in India remain susceptible to theft. This vulnerability remains heightened due to limited parking spaces and the country’s status as the largest two-wheeler market in the world.
