Three BART stations to close for construction over weekend

Buses will replace service between three BART stations and the Red Line will be closed Saturday and Sunday as updates are made to the tracks.

The closures will cause significant delays to normal weekend times, and the last trains of the night run be earlier than normal, BART said.

The closures will allow BART to work on replacing the track’s interlockings — which are segments of railway that allow trains to safely move from track to track — between the 19th Street, MacArthur and Rockridge stations in Oakland, BART announced in a news release. The work will begin this weekend and take place over six non-consecutive weekends through the end of the year.
