Now, in an interview with India Today, Rohan Malhotra, the distribution head of Yash Raj Films (YRF) opened up about why they opted for a diwali releasefor the film.Rohan told the news channel that the production believes reinvention is not required just for the sake of it. However, he added that in this case, what came to their mind was that it is important for them not to look at the opening day numbers but to focus on what is eventually going to benefit. And, in the case of Tiger 3, they definitely felt that going on Laxmi Puja day, which is considered the weakest movie-going day for a calendar year, would be a better fit for our film.
Public Review: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s much-awaited ‘TIGER 3’ hits theatres on Diwali
Elaborating further, he added that the reason was the record ‘Pathaan’ set. According to him, had they followed the conventional way, they would have released the film on Republic Day, where they were definitely assured a certain number. However, at YRF, they focused on the lifetime business of the film and they came a day earlier. It worked like a dream. They got insane numbers.
He went on to add that it came from a simple belief that we had made a good film with a superstar, Shah Rukh Khan and Adi, and all of us at YRF believed in his stardom.
Alongside Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi, the cast includes Revathi, Ashutosh Rana, Riddhi Dogra, Vishal Jethwa, Kumud Mishra, and Ranvir Shorey. Notably, the film is expected to feature cameo appearances from Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
