Tim Paine appointed head coach of Adelaide Strikers in BBL | Cricket News

Tim Paine, the former captain of the Australian cricket team, has been appointed as the head coach of the Adelaide Strikers, a team in the Big Bash League (BBL).
The 39-year-old served as an assistant to Jason Gillespie last season, but with Gillespie’s departure, Paine has been elevated to the top position.
Paine’s coaching career has been on a rapid upward trajectory. He has previously worked as an assistant to Adam Voges for Australia A and has also been involved with the Under-19 setup. His promotion to head coach of the Strikers is a testament to his growing reputation in the coaching world.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, ANI quoted Paine, “I am honoured and excited by the opportunity to coach such a well-established and strongly supported club, and I can’t wait for the start of BBL 14 in December. After spending time in Adelaide last year, I believe the Strikers team and the whole of South Australian cricket has huge potential and I’m looking forward to being part of taking it forward and winning a few trophies.”
The Strikers had a mediocre season last year, being eliminated from the tournament after losing to the Brisbane Heat in the Challenger. Paine’s first major task as head coach will be to work alongside captain Matt Short in the upcoming BBL draft, scheduled for September 1. The franchise has not yet confirmed any pre-draft signings, according to ESPNcricinfo.
