The 19-year-old bowler played a crucial role in India’s commanding nine-wicket win, delivering an impressive spell of 4-0-17-4.
In her post-match reflections, Titas revealed that her initial conversation with Jhulan Goswami centered on a straightforward principle: “Stop thinking about everything else, just bowl fast.” The advice resonated with Titas, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus on the core skill of pace bowling.
“I can tell you one thing. That was the first conversation I had with Jhulan di, and she told me ‘stop thinking about everything else, just bowl fast’. ‘Because if you’re a fast bowler, you have to bowl fast’, and I think that has been a key,” Titas shared.
Expressing gratitude for Goswami’s influence in her life, Titas highlighted the consistent presence of the legendary bowler. “Jhulan Goswami has been a big part of my life because I first saw her when I was 13, and then she has been in constant presence,” she acknowledged.
Titas also acknowledged the unique opportunity to work with Jhulan Goswami, given her vast experience and remarkable career.
“How many players have played more than 100 matches for India and for 20 years? I’m not even 20 years old!,” Titas expressed, highlighting the privilege of learning from such a seasoned campaigner.
Recalling her challenging experience of being on the bench during the Women’s Premier League season for the Delhi Capitals after winning the first-ever women’s U-19 World Cup for India, Titas emphasized the importance of making the most of every opportunity. She drew a parallel with the men’s IPL, where even great players sometimes sit out for significant periods.
“Any experience or any opportunity you get, you have to make the best out of it, and that actually became the key after the first two weeks. I just went in every practice to think I’ll learn as much as I can,” she explained.
When asked about potential pressure following her four-wicket haul against Australia, Titas remained grounded, acknowledging the humbling nature of cricket. She emphasized the transient nature of highs and lows in the sport, emphasizing the need to stay focused on the next match and continuous improvement.
