It’s all about having the right mindset and exploring the accessible places around us, like campsites, city parks, and small towns that can sometimes rival a trip to Europe. One of the most exciting ways to travel in the summer is to hit the road and discover obscure or often overlooked domestic destinations. The US is full of charming small towns and cities that offer unique cultures and experiences. Take Bentonville, Arkansas for example. It’s home to Crystal Bridges, an incredible American art museum that left me with a sense of awe similar to that of a weekend overseas.

It’s also home to incredible plays and concerts thanks to the University of Arkansas and Walton Arts Center. A visit to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is a must, as it showcases an impressive collection of contemporary artists. Plus, admission is free thanks to the Walmart-founding Walton family. Bentonville also offers plenty of nature trails, like the North Bentonville Trail, which is suitable for most abilities.
