Tottenham are willing to sell Emerson Royal this summer but value the wing-back at around £25million.

AC Milan and Juventus are among the clubs showing early interest in the Brazilian but their valuations are expected to fall below the one held by Tottenham.

Emerson arrived at Tottenham from Barcelona at the end of 2021 summer window in a deal worth £25.8m hence chairman Daniel Levy’s desire to recoup their outlay.

Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr made an approach for Emerson in January but failed to meet Tottenham’s valuation while manager Ange Postecoglou needed the Brazil international to fill in at centre back during a defensive injury crisis.

However, Postecoglou has admitted tough decisions have been made ahead of the summer that will see Tottenham sell a number of key squad members in order to make improvements.

Milan and Juventus are ideally looking to spend closer to £15m for Emerson but talks are expected to continue.

The 25-year-old has endured a fractured relationship with Tottenham supporters and has appeared to clash with some of his team-mates in recent games.

Spurs boss Postecoglou defended the defender after he was involved in an on-pitch argument with fellow defender Cristian Romero in the defeat against Liverpool at the start of May.

Postecoglou insisted there was ‘nothing wrong’ between the pair and instead hailed their show of passion as it demonstrated that ‘they care’.

Royal was expected to be one of the club’s long-term defensive investments when he joined from Barcelona but has struggled with the intensity and quality of the Premier League.

A difficult season has seen him fall behind summer recruit Micky van de Ven and Romero in the club’s defensive pecking order with Royal making only 11 Premier League starts this season.
