Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor launched in India at Rs 7.73 lakh: Variants, features of Fronx-based vehicle

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) finally launched the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 7.73 lakh for the base E variant, going up to Rs 13.03 lakh for the top-end V automatic variant, both prices ex-showroom, India. Bookings, too, have officially commenced today and deliveries are expected to begin soon.
The Toyota Taisor is essentially a badge-engineered Maruti Suzuki Fronx with minimal cosmetic changes.It’s also available with CNG right from launch, priced at Rs 8.71 lakh (ex-showroom). The Toyota Taisor will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. It also goes up against Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and more in the Indian market.

The 1.2-litre NA engine is offered with E, S, and S plus with prices starting from Rs 7.73 lakh and going up to Rs 9.52 lakh. Talking about the 1.0-litre engine, it’s offered in G and V variants with prices starting from Rs 10.55 lakh and going up to 13.03 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

In terms of design, the Taisor gets a re-designed front grille with a two-piece chrome strip running across. It also gets re-designed fog lamp housings and a new bumper. Furthermore, the Taisor also gets a new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. At the back, both are nearly identical with the only differentiating factor being the badging.
Moving inside, the Taisor and Fronx share an identical dashboard layout, with the only difference being the badges. The Taisor gets dual-tone burgundy-black interior with a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Toyota Taisor shares its entire features list with the Fronx, both SUVs get a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, automatic climate control, OTA updates, automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, wireless charger, Tilt and telescopic adjustment for steering wheel, 6-speaker sound system, semi-digital cluster, push-button start, rear AC vents, Cruise Control, Head-up display, 360-deg camera and more.

Talking about the engine and gearbox, the Taisor is offered with the same engine options as the Fronx. It includes a tried and tested 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, NA petrol engine which puts out 90 hp of power and 113 Nm of torque, gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual or an AMT. Another engine is the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine which puts out 100 hp of power and 147 nm of torque, gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
