Tragic Incident: Child Fatally Hit by Car in Collaroy over the Weekend

A child has died after being hit by a car in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

The five-year-old boy was struck on Anzac Ave in Collaroy about 1.30pm Sunday.

Police said he was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died later that evening

“Just before 1.30pm today, emergency services were called to Anzac Avenue at Collaroy, following reports of a crash,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“On arrival, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command found a boy had been struck by a car.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the five-year-old boy at the scene.

“He was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a critical condition but died about 6pm that evening.”

Police said the driver of the vehicle, a 77-year-old man, was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established as specialist police investigated the incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
