Transparent Electric Motorcycle: Indian startup showcases ‘see-through’ e-bike concept with 150 km range

Chennai-based EV startup Raptee Energy showcased the see-through version of its concept electric motorcycle at the Global Investors Meet (GIM) in Tamil Nadu. The production-ready model broke covers at the event and the official launch of this unique EV is slated to happen in April 2024.
The electric motorcycle, with a powerful drivetrain as claimed by the manufacturer, promises a top speed of 135 kmph, a real-world range of 150 km on a single charge, and rapid charging capabilities at CCS2 stations. As per Raptee, charging the vehicle at any CCS2 charging station is efficient, requiring only 45 minutes to reach 80 percent capacity or a 15-minute charge for a range of up to 40 km. Furthermore, the EV maker says that the motorcycle, which will house a powerful motor, is capable of propelling this EV to 60 kmph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds.

The EV startup has already set up its first manufacturing facility in Chennai, covering 4 acres with a proposed Rs 85 crore investment. The company says that the facility, featuring a R&D center, is set to produce up to 1 lakh units annually for the next 24 months.
The EV segment in India is witnessing a robust growth lately, especially in the two-wheeler category as both legacy players and startups are introducing models, contributing to the EV transition supported by central government’s schemes such as PLI and FAME subsidies to support and promote the adoption of green vehicles in India.
