The motorcycles, based on the same platform, cater to different riding segments. The Speed 400 is a modern-retro roadster, while the Scrambler 400X is designed for both on-road and light off-road use, featuring bigger wheels and longer travel suspension, and block-pattern tyres compared to the road-biased tyres on the Speed 400.
Both motorcycles share a 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque. This powertrain comes mated to a six-speed gearbox.
Interestingly, the discount offer and the anniversary of these models come at a time when Royal Enfield, one of the segment leaders in the mid-capacity motorcycle industry is planning to launch its much-awaited product, the Guerrilla 450. This motorcycle is slated for a launch on July 17, 2024, and will lock horns directly with the Triumph 400 twins, Hero Mavrick 440, and Harley Davidson X440.
