Donald Trump is veritably fuming over Kim Kardashian in newly released audio.
In a recording played Wednesday on CNN’s “OutFront,” the former president tells author Ramin Setoodeh that he “was disappointed” in Kardashian for distancing herself from his administration following their successful joint efforts to enact prison reform.
“With Kim, I did a lot of prison reform that she couldn’t get done with anybody else,” Trump says in the clip, adding: “I let people out of prison that I thought were deserving to be let out. And then after it was all over, she announced that she’s not supporting me.”
“And she only did that to be cool in Hollywood,” he concludes in the recording.
Setoodeh captured the audio during interviews for his book “Apprentice in Wonderland,” which was released last week and chronicles Trump’s rise from reality television to the White House.
Kardashian’s own empire grew out of her family’s reality TV show.
The billionaire cosmetics mogul visited Trump at the White House in 2018 to discuss prison reform and push for clemency for Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender.
Setoodeh believes Trump, who signed the First Step Act to reform federal prisons and sentencing laws after meeting with Kardashian, felt “betrayed” by her.
“Absolutely,” he told “OutFront” host Erin Burnett. “I think he feels wounded that he invited Kim Kardashian to the White House, and then she went on social media after Joe Biden was declared the winner in 2020 and posted three heart emojis.”
Trump has long displayed vindictiveness toward those who aren’t fully loyal to him.
In the former president’s interviews with Setoodeh, Trump also waxed poetic about singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, whom he described as “beautiful” five times in a matter of 20 seconds.
The first of two scheduled presidential debates airs live at 9 p.m. EDT Thursday on CNN.
