A company owned by Donald Trump is selling $299 sneakers with the iconic photo of the former president with his fist raised moments after he had been shot.
The Trump Sneakers are already sold out according to the website GetTrumpSpeakers.com with a notice saying: “Strict limit of three pairs per customer! Sold out in hours!”
The website is operated by 45Footwear which has a licensing agreement with CIC Ventures. According to Trump’s 2023 financial disclosure, the Republican nominee is the president, manager, secretary, and treasurer of CIC Ventures.
“Introducing the FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT High-Tops. On July 13, 2024, an assassination attempt was made on President Trump at a rally in Butler, PA,” the product website states.
“Despite the attack, Trump stood tall and resilient, leading the crowd with the powerful chant ‘Fight, Fight, Fight’.
“These limited edition high-tops, featuring Trump’s iconic image with his fist raised, honor his unwavering determination and bravery.”
CIC Ventures has a history of selling Trump sneakers having previously sold $399 shiny gold ones with an American flag on the back. They were called the “Never Surrender High-Tops.”
5,000 pairs of the sneakers have been made, 10 of them being signed by the former president. 45Footwear says it has “nothing to do with any political campaign” but it has rights to Trump’s name under a license agreement with CIC Ventures.
However, ABC News reports that Trump campaign officials have previously promoted these products in the past.
Getty Images Photographer Took the Photo
It seems the particular frame used on the sneaker was taken by Anna Moneymaker of Getty Images.
Moneymaker tells CNN that on that fateful day last Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, she initially thought the gunshots were fireworks.
“But then when the crowd started screaming and some of the wranglers started to tell us to get down with this look of shock and confusion on their faces, I just thought it was surreal,” she says.
Moneymaker says she became flustered but was able to keep her composure and captured a shot no other photographer got: Trump’s panicked face as he lay face down on the floor surrounded by Secret Service agents.
“I moved to get to where I was on stage right and saw all these agents on top of (Trump) — and then I saw his face through the agents’ legs,” she tells CNN.
“I did not know how bad he had been hit, so I just wanted to see him and make images to see how he was. I saw blood going down his face. I made a few overexposed frames before getting my settings correct, and then the agents started to raise him off the ground once the gunfire had stopped.”
