Mumbai, October 14: Two new teams will be added during the IPL 2022 Auction season, so the world’s largest cricket league will now have 10 teams. The BCCI is considering giving special discounts to these two new teams, Cricketbuzz has reported. Two new teams will be able to select two or three players directly from among the players registered for the auction. The number of players to be given to the new team will be decided on the basis of how many players are retained by the existing 8 teams. Each team can retain a maximum of 4 players, in which case the Right to Match Card cannot be used. No decision has been made yet, but the franchise will be informed soon.
What is the right to match card?In the previous IPL mega auction, the team was able to use the Right to Match card, which means that the players who could not be retained could be bought back into the team using the Right to Match card in the auction. The BCCI has extended the tender period for two new IPL teams by 10 days. Now those interested in buying the team can buy the tender till October 20. The period is said to have been extended due to confusion in Net Worth. At present, an individual needs to have a net worth of Rs 2,500 crore and a company needs to have a net worth of Rs 3,000 crore to buy a tender. According to PTI, Kotak Group, Aurobindo Pharma, Torrent Pharma, RP Sanjeev Goenka Group, Birla Group and Adani Group have won the tender. The base price of the new team is Rs 2,000 crore, but the BCCI expects to get Rs 7,000 crore from it. The new teams are said to be most interested in Ahmedabad and Lucknow.
