Upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV teased again: Here’s what to expect from Skoda Kodiaq rival

Nissan India is preparing for the upcoming launch of the X-Trail SUV, slated for sometime in the coming months, and has started drip-teasing the model to the Indian market. The fourth-generation X-Trail, already available internationally, will be introduced in India as a completely built-up unit (CBU). This marks the return of the model to the Indian market, having been previously available from 2005 to 2014.
Nissan X-Trail: What’s shown
Built on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-C platform, this SUV will join the carmaker’s lineup which currently offers a sole model, Magnite. The latest teasers shows machine-cut alloy wheels, the front fascia featuring a blacked-out V-Motion grille with chrome surrounds, sleek LED headlamp setup and L shaped LED tail lamps; indicating that it will be more or less similar to the model sold overseas.

Nissan X-Trail: Engine
As against its extensive range of petrol and hybrid powertrains available internationally, the Indian market will likely receive the X-Trail equipped with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. This three-cylinder powerplant generates 204 hp and 305 Nm of torque. While Nissan has confirmed the inclusion of a CVT gearbox, details regarding whether the model will feature 2WD or AWD capabilities have yet to be disclosed.
Upon its debut, the Nissan X-Trail will enter the competitive arena against contenders such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen Tiguan, and others. It remains uncertain whether Nissan will introduce the model in both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations for the Indian market.
