The proud mom was supporting Van Halen, who is part of the group nominated for Best Original Song for ‘Barbie’ hit ‘I’m Just Ken’
Valerie Bertinelli had a stylish date night with her favorite guy on Sunday night — and his wife!
The Golden Globe-winning actress, 63, hit the 96th Academy Awards red carpet in Los Angeles with her son Wolfgang Van Halen and his wife Andraia Allsop. The trio beamed as they coordinated in timeless black-and-white looks.
Bertinelli wore an ivory power suit, teamed with metallic accessories and a bouncy blowout — not a gray hair in sight. (The star is known to be candid with fans about her appearance and hair color maintenance, recently sharing a video on social media joking that she was “tired” of getting her roots done.)
Van Halen, 32, wore an all black suit matching his wife’s long sleeve gown. He is Bertinelli’s only son with the late Van Halen frontman Eddie Van Halen. The musician now performs as the frontman of Mammoth WVH, a one-man rock band he formed in 2020.
Sunday is an extra special occasion for Van Halen, as he’s attending the Oscars as a nominee: He plays guitar on Best Original Song nominee “I’m Just Ken.” The Barbie song is being performed by Ryan Gosling during the awards ceremony Sunday.

Bertinelli and newlywed Van Halen — who married Allsop on Oct. 15, 2023 — have a close relationship, and the actress has called her son “the joy of her life.”
“Besides the fact that he is ridiculously talented, I’m most proud of his kindness and thoughtfulness,” the Food Network star told PEOPLE during a joint interview with Van Halen published on June 10, 2021. “I think we both like to find humor in the absurd. This world is a seriously crazy place and it’s easier to get through it by finding it funny and absurd. Sometimes laughing is better than crying.”
Bertinelli has been candid about loving her body in every shape, and dressing accordingly. In October, she posted a photo of herself in an old outfit on Instagram, writing, “Health is not a body size. Health is not the number you see on the scale. Your worth as a human being isn’t dictated by your body.”
“I thought I was fat the last time I wore these clothes,” she said. “I’ve never felt more beautiful, more at peace, more mentally and emotionally stable than I do today and I’m wearing my ‘fat clothes.’ That’s f—ed up.”
The 96th Oscars will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. ET.
