John Abraham is back in his action with his latest film Vedaa, co-starring Munjya fame Sharvari and Abhishek Banerjee. The film is a journey of a young woman, played by Sharvari, who faces and resists a repressive system, and John plays a court martialed Army Officer who trains her to fight her oppressors.
The film has been making headlines in recent weeks, due to its issues with the censor board.First, Vedaa experienced delays in receiving its certification, even though it was submitted well before the deadline. Additionally, reports emerged that the censors had cut over 9 minutes from the film. Also, the first day of advance ticket sales didn’t go as planned, as the film was able to sell tickets worth just Rs 8 lakhs till Sunday afternoon. But in the next 24 hours, the film’s collection has gone up by Rs 10 lakh, the total sale till now stands at Rs 18.3 lakh, selling over 6000 tickets. Even the number of shows for the film have gone up from 1400 to 1847.
The film is clashing with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein on Independence Day weekend, with Stree 2 leading from the front. The horror-comedy film has till now sold tickets worth Rs 4 crore and is comfortable to make the most of the weekend.
Post Vedaa, Sharvari will next be seen in Alpha with Alia Bhatt, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor. This film is the latest addition to Aditya Chopra’s spy universe films, while John’s next release would be Tehran which also stars Manushi Chhillar.
