With the development of technology, vehicles will run on 100 per cent ethanol instead of petrol and diesel

Piyush Goyal explained the government’s plan

New Delhi: The government has set a target of 100 per cent ethanol blending in the long run and has set a target of 20 per cent ethanol blending by 2023-24, Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said.

Goyal said demand for battery technology is expected to grow significantly in the coming days. There will be a lot of progress in the renewable sector, which will also lead to the development of the battery industry.

Addressing the CII-organized Self-Reliance India Conference, Piyush Goyal said, “Our goal is to become self-sufficient in the field of renewable energy.”

We will develop technology that will allow vehicles to run on 100 percent ethanol instead of petrol. Those who have an electric car are urged to recharge their car only with the help of solar energy or renewable energy. For this, the infrastructure of the charging station will be built on a large scale in future.

175 GW of Renewable Energy Target by 2022

Goyal said the target for renewable energy by 2020 has been set at 175 gigawatts, while the renewable energy target by 2030 is 450 gigawatts. On June 5, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a target of 20% ethanol mixing by 2030 to 2025.

Earlier, the government had set a target of 10 per cent ethanol blending by 2022 and 20 per cent by 2030. Now this target has been shifted five years ago. At present, about 8.5 per cent ethanol is mixed in petrol in the country. In 2014, it was only between 1-1.5 per cent.

250% increase in renewable energy

India is very much aware of the use of renewable energy and it has increased by 250 per cent in the last few years. India is one of the five countries in the world where renewable energy is being used the most.

India is also among the top ten countries in the Climate Change Performance Index. India has decided to take a step towards economy and environment.
