Viral Maruti Suzuki 800 in Faridabad receives attention with chopped roof and stylish alloy wheels

A video showing a type 2 Maruti Suzuki 800, modified to have an open-top, has gone viral on social media. The car was spotted in Delhi NCR’s Faridabad locality by a young Instagram user @adwaitxpilani. In the video, we can see that the Silver 800’s roof has been cut off along with its B-pillar and D-pillar. It also features a set of aftermarket alloy wheels. On camera, the chopped roof on the 800 looks very well executed, and the sound social media user has candidly captioned it ‘Faridabad ke Engineers’ with two laughing emojis.

As we can see in the video, the open-top Maruti Suzuki 800 is definitely a head-turner. However, chopping the roof off any car is completely illegal in India. Any alteration to OEM specific design and structure to a vehicle is illegal in India. Moreover, cutting the roof of a car hugely impacts the structural integrity of the vehicle. This poses a risk for both the passengers of such an illegally modified vehicle and to other motorists on the road.

Taking a dig at the contraption, social media users have commented on the video saying, “Maruti 420”, “Maruti Launch our new version of R8 Spyder”, and more. While the chopped 800 is definitely amusing, we advise all car enthusiasts and TOI Auto to refrain from making even minor changes to their vehicles. The 800 hatchback captured in this video is probably at the end of its life, and the owner must have decided to experiment with it before shipping it off to a vehicle scrapper.
