Virat Kohli and team India have been rewriting the record books with their epic win at the T20 World Cup. Adding another page to the record books, Kohli’s social media post to celebrate the big win has now created a record of its own.
The cricketer’s Instagram post has officially become the most-liked picture in India. The title was previously held by Bollywood star-couple Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra.

Kohli’s post celebrating the World Cup victory has amassed over 18 million likes, overtaking the 16.26 million likes garnered by Kiara’s wedding announcement post from February 7, 2023.

Kohli, in his post, shared photos of Team India lifting the T20 World Cup tropy and added a couple of photos of the celebrations that continued in the locker room. Sharing the post, he wrote, “Couldn’t have dreamt of a better day than this. God is great and I bow my head in gratitude. We finally did it. jai hind.”

Kiara and Sidharth, had previously held the record for the most-liked Instagram picture in India. Their wedding announcement, which featured stunning photos of the couple from their nuptials, captivated fans and garnered widespread attention earlier this year. The couple stole the crown from

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who recorded 13.19 million likes for her wedding photo.

Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, who wed in December 2021, also held the record with over 12.6 million likes on their wedding pictures.

As Kohli’s post continues to gain likes, but it is still far behind Lionel Messi‘s post which holds the current record for the most-liked post of all time. The footballer’s post celebrating the 2022 FIFA World Cup win has been liked by over 75.3 million.
