After delivering superhit music for Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathaan’, Vishal-Sheykhar are teaming up with the former for their upcoming film ‘Fighter’, starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. The film is all set to release around India’s Republic Day long weekend, on 25th January. The music of ‘Fighter’ is already topping the charts, be it ‘Sher Khul Gaye’ or ‘Heer Aasmani’ or ‘Ishq Jaisa Kuch’.Amid the showering praises, the musician duo has had to field some brickbats for ‘Sher Khul Gaye’, as many members of the audience believe that the song is pretty much inspired by Bee Gees’ ‘Stayin Alive’.
In a conversation with Biz Asia Live, Vishal Dadlani of the Vishal-Sheykhar duo spoke about the controversy. He mentioned that when they were making the song, they were not thinking about ‘Stayin Alive’. He shared that they were messing around with the old school disco vibe and highlighted that many people have also found a connection with BTS’ song ‘Dynamite’.
Explaining more, he added that the ‘Fighter’ song ‘Sher Khul Gaye’ belongs to a particular genre. It’s a style, a progression used in many disco songs, he feels. It was a very popular online motif for funk music back in the day. And one just needs to find joy in music. So wherever one finds it, one should go for it, believes Vishal.
